Off-Campus Move-Out Trash Collection
Temple’s TUmove program lets students schedule the pick-up of their discarded household items when moving out of their off-campus housing during specific date ranges between May and August each summer. Read below for the 2026 summer TUmove dates and information!
Summer 2026
TUmove lets students schedule the pick-up of their discarded household items when moving out of their off-campus housing.
Are you eligible for TUmove?
To participate in this program during summer 2026, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Temple student as of Spring 2026
- Live in off-campus housing within the Main Campus patrol zone
- Be moving out of your off-campus housing during the below date ranges:
- Monday, May 11 - Friday, May 22
- Monday, June 22 - Friday, June 26
- Monday, July 13 - Friday, August 7
- Be disposing of eligible items:
- Appliances (e.g. refrigerators, window air conditioning units, microwaves)
- Electronics (e.g. televisions, video game consoles, cell phones, computers, monitors, printers)
- Furniture (e.g. mattresses, couches, chairs, tables, bookcases, desks, rugs)
- General household trash in trash bags
Benefits of the program
- Temple students can request their trash be picked up rather than transporting it to a disposal site themselves.
- Temple students can be good neighbors to the community by not leaving their trash on the curb for several days.
- Collection staff will ensure that trash and items not fit for donation are disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
Schedule a pick-up
If you meet the eligibility criteria above, you can schedule a trash pick-up here – summer 2026 slots are now open.
If you have items to donate, you can schedule donation pick-up separately by visiting Habitat for Humanity’s booking portal and selecting “Schedule a Pickup."
Please keep in mind the following when scheduling a trash pick-up:
- If you have roommates who are also moving out, please try to coordinate with them to have all your items collected at the same time – only one person needs to make an appointment for the household.
- Pick-ups will be available Monday through Friday during the below date ranges:
- Monday, May 11 - Friday, May 22
- Monday, June 22 - Friday, June 26
- Monday, July 13 - Friday, August 7
NOTE: The latest you can make a reservation is 48 hours in advance of the moveout date. Once slots are full, you will not be able to select them, so register as soon as you can to get your preferred time.
- Once you’ve completed your booking, you’ll receive an email and/or text message as well as a calendar invite confirming your pick-up time.
- Take your items out to the curb no sooner than 5 p.m the day before your scheduled pick-up and no later than 7 a.m. the day of your scheduled pick-up.
- If you miss your time slot, you’ll need to dispose of your items yourself (see options below). If you leave the items on the curb, you risk being fined by the city and losing your security deposit.
Alternate Waste Disposal Options
Students can bring their waste to a City of Philadelphia sanitation center or utilize the City of Philadelphia Bulk Collection Program.
NOTE: Sanitation convenience centers may require proof that you live in Philadelphia in order to use the city service.
Donate or sell your items
Before deciding to dispose of your household items, consider donating or selling them instead – this can help others, might earn you a little extra cash, and is the more sustainable option. Check out this blog post for more ideas.
Donate items to Habitat for Humanity
If you have furniture in good condition that you don’t plan to take with you, consider donating to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. You can find out more information on their donation program, including how to schedule a pick-up, on their website.
